A British officer’s daughter “Penelope Chetwode Betjeman” explored this hidden treasure at the age of 20 in 1936. She wrote such nice things about this trail and villages en route that many other British officers did this trek.
The trek traverses through log huts/ daak bungalows of British Era, Jalori pass (3500 Mts) and many beautiful Himalayan villages.
Staying in daak bungalows can be an all new experience in itself. - Arrival Delhi
Meet on arrival and transfer to the hotel.
- Day 02
- Delhi - Chandigarh - Manali
After bed tea and cookies, departure transfer to Delhi Railway Station
Depart by Shatabdi express train to Chandigarh
Arrive in Chandigarh and drive to Manali.
Manali is situated at the height of 2500 Mts. along the River Beas. Covered by Deodar trees, it is one of the oldest destinations in the Himalayas. It is also called Gateway of Ladakh.
Overnight in Manali
- Day 03
After breakfast, visit the Hadimba Devi temple- a Pagoda styled shrine in the midst of deep cedar forest; and natural hot springs in Vashisht- a tiny locale situated on the banks of the River Ravi.
Walk to the Old Manali village and explore unique architecture of Himachal Pradesh.
Post lunch, drive to Naggar, the erstwhile capital of Kullu. Visit the Naggar Castle and Roerich Art Gallery. The gallery is dedicated to Sir Nicholas Roerich.
Later drive back to Manali.

- Day 04
- Manali –Banjar
After breakfast, drive to Banjar Valley, one of the beautiful valleys in this part of Himalayas.
Arrive and check in to the resort/ homestay. Day is free to relax or explore the surroundings.

- Day 05
- Banjar – Shoja
After breakfast, drive to trekking point at Shoja.
Here meet the crew members and start trekking towards Shoja through thick pine forest and colourful wild flowers.

- Day 06
- Shoja – Khanag
After breakfast and with packed lunch, trek to Khanag, it is one of oldest settlements in this region,
Cross beautiful pine forests and many Himalayan herbs.
After 04-05 hours of moderate trekking, arrive at Khanag and check in to the Forest Rest House – about 120 years old, it has wooden interiors and exteriors. The place has a separate kitchen, room for chowkidaar (Security room) and an open space for bonfire.

- Day 07
- Khanag – Tarala (2350 Mts)
After breakfast and with packed lunch trek to Tarala- another oldest village in this route.
Tarala is famous for its potato and green pea’s cultivation.
Arrive and check in to Tarala Forest Rest House.
Overnight in Forest Rest House or Tent at Tarala
- Day 08
- Tarala – Margi (2500 Mts)
After breakfast and with packed lunch start trekking towards Margi. The route is through beautiful grassland with ‘Alps Star’ flowers.
Arrive at Margi and relax for the day.
Overnight in Tent at Margi
- Day 09
- Margi – Shilla Nala
Today is the last day of trekking on this route. After breakfast trek to reach Shilla Nala (Nalameans a small stream).
After 04-05 hours of soft trek, reach Shilla Nala and camp besides a small stream.
Overnight in Tent at Shilla Nala
- Day 10
- Shila Nala – Shimla
After early breakfast, walk for less than half an hour to reach the road end.
After bidding farewell to trekking crew members, drive to Shimla.
Arrive Shimla and check in to heritage hotel
After wash and change, walk to the Mall road and explore old part of Shimla
- Day 11
After breakfast, day free to explore Shimla town, walk to the Mall Road- visit the Ridge Road, Gaiety Theatre and Christ Church.
Overnight in Shimla
- Day 12
- Shimla – Delhi
After breakfast, departure transfer to the Shimla Railway station
Board the toy train which is a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site Mountain railways of India,
Arrive at Kandaghat Railway Station. The driver will be waiting with car here.
Drive to Kalka Railway station and board the Shatabdi Express train to Delhi. Dinner on board.
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Delhi
- Day 13
- Delhi – Home
After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing of Delhi city- visit Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Humayun Tomb, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Parliament House and President’s House.
Also experience the rickshaw ride through the narrow streets of Chandani Chowk.
After farewell dinner, departure transfer to Delhi Airport.
Fly back home.
